No. Singles and couples are welcome at all of our dances.

Do I need special shoes ?

Picture

You probably have plenty of things in your closet that will work just fine.  Do avoid shoes with soles that  grip the floor (sneakers, rubber soles). You don’t want to injure your knees when you’re turning on the dance floor. Also, ladies will want to wear a shoe with a closed heel to give your foot more support. As you progress in your dance experiences, you may want to invest in dance shoes. You will be pleasantly surprised at how much good dance shoes improve your dance experience.

Do I need fancy clothes for dancing?

Picture
Not really.  For a lesson, wear something comfortable that is in good taste.  For our dance evenings, "dress to impress" which means no jeans, shorts, or tee shirts.  Most women like to use the occasions to wear outfits they may not to get to wear on a daily basis.  We  often have theme dances for which many dancers like to get a bit creative and dress for the event (Mardi Gras, St. Patrick's Day, beach party, etc.)  Formal events require a coat and tie for men, although many use that as an opportunity to dust off the ol' tux.

Do I  have have to be a member of USA Dance to attend the monthly dance?

Picture
All dancers are welcome at the monthly dances. Prices are tiered for members and non-members. The Thursday night beginner lessons are also open to all those interested. Membership is required for the intermediate dance class.

What is the policy on tobacco and alcohol?

Our events are alcohol and smoke free.

Where are the dances and lessons held?

Picture
Our dances and lessons are held on the 2nd floor of  the Sinclair Building located at 105 McReynolds St., Carthage, NC 27376.  We’re in front of the court house and across the street from Freds. There is plenty of free parking in the area. Also, we have a very large, wooden dance floor.

What if I don't know how to dance?

Picture
Not a problem.  Everyone starts as a beginner and we look forward to introducing you to ballroom dance. Each of the monthly dances begins with a free lesson. Also we have weekly dance classes at the beginner and intermediate levels..
